Masoud Irannezhad is currently a research assistant professor at the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) in Shenzhen, China. He received his Ph.D. Degree in Environmental Engineering (Water Resources) from the University of Oulu (Finland) in 2015. Then, Dr. Irannezhad followed a joint post-doctoral research program between Portland State University in the USA and the University of Oulu in Finland (2016-2017). He worked as a research associate visiting scholar at the University of Gothenburg (Sweden) during March-August 2017. In August 2014, Dr. Irannezhad received the best student presentation at the Nordic Water Conference 2014, Stockholm, Sweden (August 11-13, 2014). In December 2014, he was selected as the deligation of Finland in Management Committee of TUD COST Action TU1405 (GABI), European Cooperation in Science and Technology (e-COST – part of Horizon 2020). In 2019, Dr. Irannezhad received the best presentation award from the XIII International Conference on Water Resources and Arid Environments (24-25 Oct), Istanbul, Turkey. His research interests include hydrclimtology, water resources, cold climate hydrology, Water-related extremes (drought and flood), remote sensing, and big data analysis. Dr. Irannezhad has: (i) published 22 peer-reviewed papers in high-ranked journals related to climatology, hydrology, and water resources; (ii) given 28 presentations (oral and poster) in international conferences; (iii) received about 240,000 € competitive research, incentive, visiting, and travel grants. He is currently an active member of GABI Work Group 3 “Sustainability and Urban Planning”, American Geophysical Union (AGU), American Meteorological Society (AMS), American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), European Geosciences Union (EGU), Nordic Association for Hydrology (NHF), and International Association of Hydrological Sciences (IAHS).
