Abstract

Problem-Based Learning (PBL) is a student-centered teaching model that emphasizes problem-focused, self-directed and cooperative learning, and prompts students to exercise and improve their critical thinking in the process of inquiry and problem solving. It is crucial to cultivate students' critical thinking in English teaching, especially through problem solving. In the field of education, PBL is widely recognized as an effective method for developing students' critical thinking. PBL prompts students to construct knowledge systems and develop critical thinking by stimulating their learning interest and initiative, and by exploring problems through independent and cooperative learning in authentic or near-authentic problem situations.
