Exploring the Application of Digital Dynamic Scores in Piano Rhythm Training

Abstract

Traditional specialized piano rhythm practice, relying on paper scores and mechanical metronomes, has significant pedagogical limitations. Traditional paper scores present rhythm only through static symbols. Learners must independently interpret beat patterns and rhythmic structures, which may lead to errors in rhythm perception and segmentation. Mechanical metronomes can only produce fixed, uniform beats, failing to adapt to the rhythmic characteristics of different pieces and unable to provide targeted training for learners' weaknesses, resulting in insufficient training effectiveness. Against the backdrop of digital transformation in education, digital dynamic score software such as MuseScore, Synthesia, and Flowkey have reconstructed piano rhythm learning pathways through advantages like visual presentation. This paper proposes a five-stage rhythm learning model and examines how digital score platforms improve piano rhythm training.
