Abstract

This study examines Ming Du's Nanhai Fu (2022), which integrates the Hainanese folk melody Lilimay and the Han Fu poetic form within a Western symphonic framework. Through an eight-movement structure, the work reinterprets regional identity by transforming traditional literary and musical elements into contemporary orchestral expression. The analysis reveals that the success of Nanhai Fu lies in its innovative formal synthesis and nuanced cultural adaptation, offering a model for revitalizing national musical traditions.
