Abstract

With the growing emphasis on sustainable development concepts, bamboo, owing to its lightweight, robust, and eco-friendly properties, is gradually emerging as a significant material in furniture design. This study first analyzes the inevitability of "replacing plastics with bamboo" and explores the characteristics of bamboo material as well as flattened bamboo furniture. Meanwhile, by integrating the demands of contemporary lifestyles, it delineates the scope of multi-functional bamboo furniture, aiming to enhance both the practicality and aesthetic appeal of furniture. Through case studies and experimental validation, the findings indicate that multi-functional furniture crafted from bamboo not only meets the diverse needs of daily use but also embodies natural aesthetics, thereby advancing the cause of green design. This paper will delve into the design of multi-functional flattened bamboo furniture from the perspective of "replacing plastics with bamboo."
